Amongst nature, the mind rests, and the beauty of quiet details speaks.
For me, art is a way to quiet the mind, connect with nature, and explore the world around me. Creating slows me down and helps me to notice the little things, such as the way light filters through trees, how colour casts across the sky at sunset, or the sheer beauty of a flower.
Through my photography and mixed media practice, I hope to offer a gentle reminder of pause and presence in our fast-paced world.
What creativity means to me
My creative path began in a coastal village in the UK, where my childhood was spent exploring the beach, cycling through the pinewoods, and making flower-decorated sand pies. Art and nature were always my primary languages, nurtured by my mum’s creative hand, my dad fostering my early love of photography, and my Granny Peg tending her garden with quiet care.
This early passion led me to art college and a degree in fashion and textile design, where I realised just how deeply the natural environment shapes my work. After moving to Australia, I pursued a long-held dream of becoming a primary school teacher, finding immense joy in guiding young learners as they discovered their unique creative strengths and built confidence through visual arts.
Later, becoming a mother and completing further studies in art therapy deepened my understanding of art as a meaningful tool for self-expression, communication, and reflection. Returning to my practice reminded me that art is a vital way to process life, anchor ourselves in the present, and view the world with wonder.
I view my deep connection to nature and my ability to notice its finer details as a personal gift. Every new project begins by wandering, observing, and gathering inspiration-documenting the textures, patterns, and seasonal shifts that reveal themselves when we take the time to look closely.
Nature endlessly fascinates me, not only for its visual beauty, but for the remarkable rhythm of its cycles. My work is guided by a belief that reconnecting with the environment helps restore balance in our lives. Through my personal creative practice, my purpose is to inspire others to slow down, care for the earth, and protect this beautiful planet for future generations by making the subtle details visible-a glistening raindrop on a leaf, the shift in afternoon light, or the intricate textures right beneath our feet.
