Coast to Coast

As a child growing up by the sea in the UK, I was fascinated by postcards. There was something magical about those small rectangles of card: the stamps, the handwritten notes, and the glimpse into another world. My Uncle Dave would send me postcards from Australia long before I ever imagined I’d one day call it home. Those little pieces of paper meant the world to me, and they still do.

People surfing and standing on rocks at the edge of the beach during daytime.
A sprig of small, light purple or lavender flowers with green stems and leaves.
A beach with sandy shore, rocky outcroppings, and houses on a hillside. The ocean is calm with gentle waves, and the sky is partly cloudy.

Now living on the Western Australian coast, Coast to Coast has become a way to bridge my past and present through photography and art. It is a quiet reflection on the places that hold meaning-tracing a path through my family’s ancestral roots in India, my childhood along the UK coastline, and the ocean edge where I live today. It is an exploration of memory, belonging, and the art of noticing what truly matters.

This ongoing project is a postcard of sorts-one I am sending back to my younger self, and sharing with you..
